Glowing green eyes looked about in the darkness like two eerie orbs from another world. Maybe they were the eyes of a rouge cat, or possibly even a bat. No, they were neither. These odd green eyes belonged to a young woman with pale, peach colored skin and raven black hair with a few red streaks.
She took a shallow breath and a thin smile appeared on her pale pink lips. Dreaded Sunshine, more commonly known as Dread, lifted her head and looked up at the moon. It was a beautiful night and an eerie one at that, which made it even better. She wore a midnight blue skirt that reached a few inches above her knees and a black V-neck shirt.
Her henna-like tattoo on her upper left arm shined a bit in a moon light. Dread was here for one reason. Silence. This meadow had become somewhat of a sanctuary to her ever since she had become a child of the darkness. Dread smiled a bit again and looked down at the grass that reached up, almost to her waist.
There was the very faint sound of crickets chirping somewhere in the insanely tall grass. She brought her flute to her lips, the metal cool against them. This was also a great place to play her favorite instrument. So she played, the notes floating through the silent air like a soft tinkling bell, the sounds being carried in the light wind. After a moment she brought the flute back down to her side, still hearing the faint tone of her final few notes. It reminded her of the last night she’d spent with her soon to be husband.
It had been a week before she had become a vampire.
Dreaded sat on the bed lightly, looking down at Richard, her glowing green eyes shining with tears. She lightly ran a hand through his chestnut brown hair as he began to cough. She swiftly handed him his handkerchief and kissed his forehead lightly. “Oh Richard..why you?” She asked softly.
Richard stopped coughing and took a ragged breath. “Sunny, it’s a..alright. I’ll..pull…through this..we’ll..be together..” He managed to get out in a strangled breath. He called her Sunny, he was the only one who did. He claimed it matched her better. Richard had caught consumption only a month ago and he was getting worse by the hour.
The doctor had claimed he wouldn’t make it past the end of the month. Dread held his hand, it killed her to see him this way. She was wearing a sapphire blue gown and the diamond necklace he had bought for her with the money he’d saved up from working in fields. “P..play your..f..flute..” He murmured.
“I love you Richard.” She whispered softly and nodded as she picked up her flute and began to play it softly
“I love..you..to..Sun…”His voice trailed off as his eyes closed. At first she thought maybe he’d fallen asleep, but when she realized he wasn’t breathing, she didn’t even bother screaming. She knew what had happened.
Dread kissed his forehead lightly, tears falling down her face as she stood slowly and went to go get the doctor. He was gone now, forever, and there was no getting him back.
Dread shook her head, shaking off the memory. That had been a long time ago, and she’d never felt the same way about anyone since. Dread took another breath and sighed softly before starting to play her flute again.

Elijah sat silently, facing the west, with his back resting on a fence-post. He had lost track of how long he had been sitting there, but it had been a remarkable length of time. He had come out to watch the sunset, a time of piece and beauty, and forget his troubles, for just that moment. As soon as he went back to Karyn, and his rebel allies, he would be back in that world of nostalgic pain.
He looked up at the moon, now bright in the sky. It wouldn't be long until the time came for him to change once more. Into a disgusting, mindless, murdering beast. Elijah's usually strong outward appearance broke down for a brief moment out in that meadow, where no one could see him. Why him? Why did it have to happen to him? He was happy, care-free, and at peace. But it had all been torn apart by those monsters, they had crippeled his perfect life; reduced him to living in abandoned warehouses; reduced him to staying indoors at daytime lest someone spot his peculiarities; reduced him to a monster.
And Karyn too. How much could she take? She could go back to her normal life at any time. Or she could be killed. The monsters that made him seemed to have no morals, no respect for humanity. He could imagine them slaughtering her just to appease their unending appetite. They had to be stopped, before anymore monsters were created, before anymore perfect lives were brought crashing down. Elijah wiped his eyes, and gritted his teeth in steely determination. He would bring their world crashing down around them like they did to him. He would wipe them from the Earth.
Elijah rose to his feet, brushing bits of grass from him. Sulk over. He was going him and getting over it. He could still have fun, still enjoy his life with Karyn. He set of in the direction of the Industrial District, when he heard what seemed to be a flute. It was beautiful, it sounded like classical music, but he wasn't particularly experianced at music. Who would be playing the flute in the middle of nowhere, at the dead of night? He wondered, heading towards the source of the sound. A woman, with dark hair, streaked with red, was playing.
"Hello?" Elijah called out."I..." He wasn't entirly sure why he had come over. "I heard someone playing the flute." He said, scratching his head.

Dread tilted her head slightly, she heard the approaching footsteps first, even through the sound of the musical notes. Her ears perked just a tad when she heard the voice, it startled her just slightly. Dread didn’t expect anyone here in the Meadow so late. She turned around, her eyes adjusting the form a few feet away from her. He was a werewolf, she could sense it, and she would be on guard. For the moment though – he was no danger to her.
A small smile traced Dread’s lips as he spoke again. “Well, unless there is a third person here..the flute player would be me.” She said and showed him the flute, it glinted in the moonlight. “It’s a good way to calm down.” She added absently. Then she studied the man again.
“And who, might I ask, are you?” Dread looked at him a moment more. She wasn’t very familiar with everyone in this area – mainly because, as a vampire, she didn’t go searching out werewolves and other non-vampires. “My name is Dreaded.” She smiled faintly again.
Normally she never said her full first and last name to people she ran in to. If it came to exchanging names she only gave her first. She got a lot of weird looks and new that people laughed about her name when she gave it to them. Dread took a slight step forward as she examined him and then looked up at the sky. She didn’t have long before she would have to return to the cover of her home to get away from the deadly rays of sun.
Dread ran her tongue over her fangs a brief moment and then returned her attention to the man before her. She could tell he was taller than her, but not by much. He seemed interesting – which was good. Surprisingly there hadn’t been many people she’d met so far that were interesting. Mostly they’d just liked to talk..a lot…about absolutely nothing.

Elijah walked closer to the woman, stopping a few metres away, a curious look on his face. “Well, unless there is a third person here..the flute player would be me.” She said and showed him the flute. Elijah smiled distractedly at the joke. “It’s a good way to calm down.” The woman added. Elijah nodded slowly. The music had been very soothing. He had not been in the best of moods, but she was right, it had made him feel better.
"Yes, I found it very soothing." He agreed politely. "You play very well." He added, with a small laugh and brief grin.
“And who, might I ask, are you?” The woman asked.
"My name is Elijah Champton." Elijah replied with a polite smile. He was wondering what the woman was doing out in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, with a flute. Surely she could play it in her house? It was dangerous at night, with darkness to hide evil in. Perhaps, like him, she was different. "Who are you?" Elijah asked, having to stop himself saying What are you?
“My name is Dreaded.” She smiled faintly.
"Nice to meet you, Dreaded." Elijah replied, stepping forward and offering his hand formally. "What are you doing out so late?" He asked, realising he himself had no real reason to be out there. "You know, it can get quite dangerous at night. That's when the... more unusual types come out."

“It’s a pleasure to meet you too Elijah. And yes, I’ve had a long time to practice, ever since I was oh..I don’t know..seven maybe. My parents wanted me to be well-rounded” Dreaded laughed a bit and shook his hand. She smiled slightlhy when he asked her why she was out so late.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Dreaded smiled. “Though I suppose there’s no use in hiding anything. I’m a vampire of the Eszes house. I’m sure I’d be able to defend myself if danger came about. It’s better to play my flute out here than..well at home.” She laughed gently. Dreaded wasn’t too close to anyone in the house, though she had a few friends, they were mostly just people to talk to when she got bored.
Her fangs flashed for a split second when she smiled again. “Sadly though, I’ll have to go back there. Don’t want to get burnt to a crisp now do I?” Dreaded smirked slightly.
“So now that I’ve stated my reasons, how about you state yours?” She asked looking at him curiously.

Elijah quickly shook Dreaded's hand with a strong grip. He stepped back as he released it, feeling the cold night air on his skin. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too Elijah. And yes, I’ve had a long time to practice, ever since I was oh..I don’t know..seven maybe. My parents wanted me to be well-rounded” Elijah nodded, impressed. He admired talent, in almost every form, eispecially when it manifested in more creative, artistic ways.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Dreaded smiled, when he asked what she was doing out so late. He laughed briefly, and nodded. He himself was unsure what he was doing, why he had been out so long. “Though I suppose there’s no use in hiding anything. I’m a vampire of the Eszes house. I’m sure I’d be able to defend myself if danger came about. It’s better to play my flute out here than..well at home.” Elijah's ears perked, and his eyes shone with the enlightenment. A vampire? She certainly would be able to defend herself. Perhaps aid in worthy causes? He noticed her fangs for a second, more than able to tear flesh.
"Well, if we are being honest with each other, I am a Werewolf. Born human. Cursed with a bite." Elijah said, pain in his heart showing in his features, anger mixed with anguish.
“Sadly though, I’ll have to go back there. Don’t want to get burnt to a crisp now do I?” The woman said, grinning slightly.
"I'm sure you don't." Elijah answered, with a similar smirk.
“So now that I’ve stated my reasons, how about you state yours?” Dreaded asked him, curiously.
Elijah laughed, shrugging. "I came out to enjoy the sunset. Take my mind of things. I didn't realise it was so late. I was...distracted." Elijah said honestly. He didn't want to divulge his secret pains to a stranger, but he wondered if her coven, or at least herself, could help him. He would have to talk to the others, but an entire vampire coven would shift the scales.
"I will have to get back soon. Do you come here much? I might need your help one day." He asked.

Dreaded shook her head. “I was bitten too, and you’re right, it’s much more of a curse than a benefit.” She smiled, her eyes sad for a brief moment before shaking off a few more thoughts.
“Oh? I was out just after sunset..obviously..the sky’s always so pretty then too.” Dreaded smiled again. “Yes I’m usually out here, if I’m not here then I’m at the Eszes house.” She said. She idly wondered for a moment what he could possibly need her help with though.
“I’d be more than happy to help out..if it’s a worth cause.” She tilted her head just slightly, eyeing him again. “What exactly would I need to help with?” She asked, one of her pale peach colored hands running through her hair.
Dreaded looked towards the sky a moment, seeing the moon was just a little bit lower. Then she looked to Elijah again. “Because, you know, if it’s something important..I could possibly gather a few others when the time arises to do so.” She smiled faintly.
Dreaded didn’t have many friends, no, but she would certainly be able to chat some people up if it was necessary.

“I was bitten too, and you’re right, it’s much more of a curse than a benefit.” Dread agreed. Elijah could see the pain in her eyes, and grunted in agreement.
“Oh? I was out just after sunset..obviously..the sky’s always so pretty then too. Yes I’m usually out here, if I’m not here then I’m at the Eszes house.” She said, answering his question. “I’d be more than happy to help out..if it’s a worth cause. What exactly would I need to help with?” She added, running a hand through her hair. Elijah shifted uncomfortably. He wasn't sure how much he wanted to tell the stranger. “Because, you know, if it’s something important..I could possibly gather a few others when the time arises to do so.” The Vampire added.
Elijah frowned slightly. A good number of Classic Vampires, fighting on his side would of course be useful. And this one didn't seem to have any quarrel with his kind. But the Vampire's had half vampires too, didn't they? Would they help some rebel werewolves? "Well, there is a rebellion amidst the werewolf society. I am one of the rebel leaders. I'll tell you more next time I see you." Elijah said, briefly, before turning away and walking into the night. "See you soon, I expect."
