 Bitter wine; Sweet blood

The sun had set just two hours ago, but blood lust had called his name. The sound of drinking echoed down the empty alley. The lack of street lights hid two figures within it's shroud; one man was partially collapsed against the other. The man that stood had his head bent over the other youth's neck, hiding his face within the delicate flesh. Felix tightened his arm about the man's waist, and pulled the mortal against him. He kissed the man's neck, soothing the fear of what was to come.

    "Jitto shite."
    (Stay still)

He whispered this lustfully into the man's ear, and watched as the man writhed within his arms. He parted his lips, revealing a pair of elongated canine teeth, and with a small husky snarl he bit into the young man's velvety skin. A few moans were uttered from both the vampire, and his victim, both cries out of pleasure. The blood traveled to the immortal's stomach warming him, but also arousing him. Felix stood with his face still buried in the man's neck, though slowly forced the man against the wall. He continued to feed but finally withdrew his teeth from the man's neck, leaving behind a set of puncture marks.

He then lapped at said marks, and with a small kiss he let the man fall to the ground. One of the figures emerged from the alley, although he appeared as a normal human, he was not. Donning a casual apparel that consisted of a plain white dress shirt, and black slacks, he blended in perfectly with the business men that hurried home to their families. The collar to his shirt was unbuttoned, as were the cuffs of his sleeves. He walked from the mouth of the alley, and merged in with the crowds on the street. The immortal wiped his lips of blood from the help of his slender hand, and ran the opposite through his raven hair.

Felix now stood in front of an antique shop that had an old violin for sale. He enjoyed music, but he didn't often have time to play. Strangely, he slowly went inside of the antique store, and moved to stare at the chestnut wood of the violin, taking note of the craftsmanship he couldn't help but admire. It had been how long since he last played? He glanced down at his hands which desperately wanted to take up the bow; his fingers ached to run along the strings creating that soothing yet haunting melody.

"Are you interested in that instrument, young man?"

Felix turned to look down at an elderly woman. She had a haunch to her back but looked just as fragile as the violin did. Her hair was pulled back into a bun that sat on top of her head whilst her glasses rested on the edge of her nose. He secretly smirked to himself at her vulnerability, but merely answered her question.

"I use to play. That's all."

    "Use to play?"

The old woman inquired, prying further with a gentle smile that was filled with years of wisdom. Felix glared out the window at her personal question but answered her again.

    "Yes."

"O, would you play for an elderly woman? I get so lonely and my fingers are too weak to play anymore. Would you?"

Felix lifted his head, and turned slowly to look down at the woman as she moped behind the counter, taking out an old music book from behind a class show case. She came back over to the immortal, and opened the book to show him songs that he had learned long, long ago. Why was he so at ease around this old woman? It annoyed him but he took the book from the woman, and gently took the violin from it's stand. The old woman smiled. Felix sat himself down on a stool and stared at the instrument in his hands before lifting his gaze to see the old woman move into the back room. Slowly he lifted the old bow, and placed it over the strings before tucking the chin piece under his chin. The feeling of the smooth velvet against his pale tanned skin sent a small feeling of familiarity through him.

He glanced out the window for a while before his hand slowly started to move the bow along the strings, creating the introduction to his own song. The notes floated out and melted into one another in a slow, yet sorrowful melody. The immortal began to loose himself in his music; the bow moved quicker, and quicker along the strings as his fingers moved to hold them down, moving swiftly along the neck, speeding the song dramatically with high notes--dragging out notes here and there, creating a swift, dark and yet alluring song. Felix wondered if anyone was watching him, or if anyone was even listening to the music he was making..

The night was young still, very young, but Susannah was already out. She had merely woken about three hours ago, and she stretched lazily against the side of a building. Curious eyes scanned the crowds that bustled by on their way home from work. She subconsciously picked out the ones she suspected of vampirism.

You hunt vampires for long enough, and you get almost a sixth sense of when one is around. Of course, her senses were far from perfect, but sometimes it paid off. Her sleep had been troubled, as usual, and there were light bags beneath her eyes. Her hair looked just a little messy in her untidy bun, and she covered her mouth as she yawned again.

Tonight, she wore a simple pair of black pants and a red collared shirt with black lace trimming. She didn't look too out of place really, but if one happened to look closer, they would notice odd misshapen lumps along her legs. They were well concealed, but if one really looked close enough they would notice the sheathes hidden beneath her pants.

One on each side of her ankles, and one on either side of her hips. To help cover it, she wore a black coat over the top. It was fairly fitted. She didn't want to look like some Van Helsing wannabe with a big black trench coat. That wasn't her style. She wanted to look as normal as possible, and not attract attention to herself. Inside the pockets were little syringes filled with dead blood.

A man caught her eye almost instantly. There was the slightest red tinge to his lips, and she almost laughed. Most people wouldn't even notice. But to Susannah, it looked like a vampire had just fed. Blending into the crowd as it bustled down the street, she kept her eye on the man in the black pants and white dress shirt.

As usual, he was very attractive; as most vampires were, and he looked like an average normal. But Susannah wasn't stupid, she knew he was anything BUT normal. The slayer almost laughed as he entered an antique store. She casually followed him in and pretended to be interested in a book. Pretending to be immersed in the musty pages, she kept her eyes fixed on the vampire as he picked up the violin.

The old lady was too friendly for her own good and Susannah was instantly alert. She would be an easy target for a vampire, old, weak, defenseless. Turning the page in the old book, she went back to pretending to read until she heard him begin to play.

For a few seconds, she was dumbstruck.

Susannah had never heard anything so beautiful in her whole life. She merely stood there, staring over at him with awe. For some reason, the more he played, the more beautiful he became and the less Susannah felt the need to hunt him. How could anyone who played something that wonderful be a killer?

Demons didn't play music like angels. She must have it wrong...right?
