No New Posts Highgate Cemetery

The cemetery in its original form — the western part — opened in 1839. The Victorian attitude to death and its presentation led to the creation of a wealth of Gothic tombs and buildings. It occupies a spectacular south-facing hillside site slightly downhill from the top of the hill of Highgate itself. In 1854, the section to the east of the original area across Swains Lane was bought to form the eastern part of the cemetery. This part is still used today for burials, as is the western part. The cemetery's grounds are full of old-growth trees, shrubbery and wild flowers that are a haven for birds and small animals such as foxes. The Egyptian Avenue and the Circle of Lebanon (topped by a huge Cedar of Lebanon) feature tombs, vaults and winding paths dug into hillsides. For its protection, the oldest section, which holds an impressive collection of Victorian mausoleums and gravestones, plus elaborately carved tombs, allows admission only in tour groups, but people sneak it whenever they please. Ditionally, the Highgate Cemetery is well known for its so-called occult past, being the site of the alleged Highgate Vampire.

No New Posts Bus Station

A white park bench with peeling paint and a torn sidewalk dotted in gum lines the dirt road which will take travelers out of the London area and into the surrounding cities. With even the slightest bit of wind, the old rusted bus sign creaks and rotates on its’ post, making an annoying grinding noise.

No New Posts Gypsy Camp

An old Gypsy wagon whose wheels have long since been removed stands in a hillside camp with several tattered and mangy huts surrounding it. Exotic animals can be found in crates and tethered to the ground here, trained by the Gypsies for public entertainment. The Gypsies themselves are mysterious but kind folk, and are generally accepting of anyone in their company--so long as you’re not one of those “fanged men” they’ve all heard about.

No New Posts Open Market

The pickings of this outdoor market are hit-and-miss, and sometimes the shabby vendors will be selling rare herbs and fresh fish, and other times they’ll have week out road kill and animal paws. The languages spoken here range from European, to Asian, to Arabic, and shop owners break out into open arguments every hour.

No New Posts Used Car Lot

The tattered English flag and small triangular banners marking this lot are caked in dried gasoline fumes and dust--as is everything else here. The lot owner will as easily sell you a wagon as a working car, yet engine parts and useful pieces of metal can always be bought here, albeit, for a ridiculous price.

Board Information & Statistics

Board Description
City Outskirts
These forgotten districts of the city lie in wake of the pollution and heat the city produces, and these areas, however secluded and reserved from public, are unpleasant and dirty. Few families live out here, and those who do have clustered into smaller towns and villas along patches of farmland and smalls creeks. It is an unhealthy, yet peaceful place to be.
